Konstmuseet i Norr, Norrbotten’s County Art Museum, has purchased works by Norrbotten artists Pilar de Burgos and Lotta Kvist. The purchase was made in conjunction with the Konstnärer i Norrbotten (Artists in Norrbotten) exhibition at Kiruna Konsthall in May.

The works are included in Norbotten’s anniversary exhibition Hands off, which opened in May at Kiruna Konsthall under the direction the non-profit association Kiruna Konstgille. During the summer months, the exhibition will be shown at Norrbottens museum in Luleå and then it continues on to Piteå Konsthall (Piteå’s municipal art hall). In the beginning of 2021, the works will come to Konstmuseet i Norr in Kiruna.

"The works are a good fit with the museum’s collection, which will continue to grow and represent socially critical contemporary art from both Norrbotten and the Barents Region," said Norrbotten’s County Art Museum Director Selma Green.

The collection of Norrbotten’s County Art Museum currently consists of 13 works. The art museum has been tasked with taking the initiative to expand its own art collection. In this year of the corona pandemic, 2020, there will be an extra focus on purchasing art from Norrbotten artists.
